That's right, the NBC article is from 2022--I will correct the date. However, it has to do with the end of Title 42, which comes to an end now. The termination of Title 42 was suspended in 2022, and the termination comes into effect in 2023, hence this detention policy will apply.
What struck me more is why this received little if any comment at all from those who were steadfastly against mandates, vax passes, etc. I could be wrong about that too, but I am unable to find anything so far to contradict the point. If you know of any sources, please post them here.
