Mining Canada for Big Pharma's Profits
While also positioning Canada in the global political economy of permanent pandemics
Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to the tune of $4.1 billion, the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) has identified 12 viruses that have the potential to cause the “next pandemic,” that is, the next Disease X.
“The COVID-19 pandemic wasn’t the first to devastate the world and it won’t be the last. In a new series, we round up emerging infectious threats that have the potential to erupt into global pandemics”—this comes from GAVI’s website. A convenient scare-mongering image, akin to playing cards featuring the faces of most wanted terrorists, showcases these 12 “threats”:
Clearly what we are witnessing is investment in the creation of a global political economy of “pandemic preparedness”. One does not prepare for the moment; one must prepare for all possibilities, for the all of the future. This is permanent “preparedness,” in the wishful mindset of investors.
The Canadian federal government today announced a deal with GlaxoSmithKline to “procure 80 million doses of influenza vaccine if a pandemic occurs and a minimum of four million doses annually to be used in publicly funded vaccination programs”. Both of the regime media pieces linked to here refer to H1N1 in 2009 as a “pandemic,” without any question—when it was an entirely fake pandemic. Why mention it? Their theory is that “influenza pandemics” strike about once every 10 years, suggesting that we might be overdue. So now is the time to “prepare,” as GSK Canada opportunistically added:
“We are proud to continue to work with the Government of Canada to supply our vaccines supporting Canada’s pandemic preparedness and fight against seasonal influenza. COVID-19 has shown the world the importance of immunization and pandemic preparedness. This agreement reserves future production and delivery of pandemic and seasonal influenza vaccines allowing for a rapid response to help protect Canadians.”
Covid-19 is explicitly credited for helping the State-Big Pharma alliance in finally scaling over a wall that has long been an almost insurmountable challenge: generating demand for flu shots. The CDC has a history of inflating numbers to sow panic about influenzas, in order to increase vaccine consumption. This long-standing goal was accentuated by none other than Dr. Anthony Fauci himself (just in time for Covid), among others, at the Milken Institute’s “Future of Health” Summit on October 28-30, 2019:
Quebec is once again featured as the subsidiary production plant of Big Pharma: “The new doses will be produced at GSK’s Quebec City manufacturing site, and are part of the federal government’s $1.3-billion push to rebuild Canada’s domestic vaccine manufacturing capacity”. Quebec is also the locus of the most extreme “pandemic” restrictions seen on the North American continent from 2020 to 2022, and, interestingly, is cited as the leader in Canada for both “Covid deaths” and “monkeypox infections”. (Montreal is also set to become a base for Moderna’s manufacturing of mRNA shots.)
At least two things are happening here:
(a) Canadian public revenues are being transferred to the coffers of giant pharmaceutical transnational corporations; and,
(b) the Canadian federal and Quebec provincial governments are trying to “strategically” position themselves in the global political economy of permanent pandemics—so that Canada itself can profit from future “pandemics”. Of course, that requires pandemics to happen, and fear to create demand.
If Canada finds increasing difficulties in training its own population to serve as limitless consumers of “vaccines,” it would send a bad business signal to investors and to prospective markets. Canadians have to be sacrificed to show that “vaccines” are good business, and that “Canada is open for business”. How much more “21st century” can a country get?
Scaring up customers (and banishing the fearless) is not just good for Big Government, it is also great for Big Business.
Addendum:
Canada is signing contracts for the production of a massive number of doses, at a time when it is throwing out doses and facing halting uptake at home. This could lead to a crisis of oversupply, which itself can lead to a classic form of imperialism—we can call the reiteration, “vaccine imperialism”. Having invested so much in establishing production plants in Canada, and with UBC directly invested in developing components of the mRNA shots, Canada will feel the pressure to bust into foreign markets. Look for fear campaigns targeting Africa, which is most resistant to these products, and for “vaccines” being added to the conditions attached to foreign aid, loan, and development programs—anything to forcefully and artificially build demand. In my opinion, this is a strategy that is already showing signs of future failure. It is the wrong politics and the wrong business strategy in a changing world system.
Fellow Canadians, I just sent this letter to my local newspaper. I suggest you do something similar. Take any of the ideas or wording here that you find useful:
July 15, 2022
Dear editor,
I hope that you will see fit to publish this letter in the Lethbridge Herald:
On July 14 Health Canada announced its approval of the Moderna Spikevax for children from the ages of 6 months to 5 years old. That evening, on the CBC’s “The World at Six”, in a segment starting at minute 8, a pediatrician, Dr. Daniel Flanders, says with regard to convincing vaccine hesitant parents, “When you weigh the risks and benefits of this vaccine it’s really not debatable.” Not debatable? Really?
In response to the Health Canada decision the Canadian Covid Care Alliance put up a couple of videos and a pdf on its website that walk you through the evidence. They conclude that kids do not need the shots, that they don’t work, and that they have NOT been proven safe. Perhaps they are wrong.
But why does the CBC never put anyone on who actually helps us all grapple with the evidence? All you ever hear is something like “After a thorough and independent scientific review of the evidence, the department has determined that the vaccine is safe and effective at preventing COVID-19 …” Okay, but then why not explain why the Canadian Covid Care Alliance is wrong?
Government funding for the CBC is well over a billion a year. Is that why they never present arguments that go against government policy? Preston Manning has called for a commission that is independent of government funding to assess the way that the government has managed the Covid crisis. You can find his proposal at the Frontier Centre for Public Policy. You may not agree with anything else that Manning stands for, but I say let’s support him on this. What say you?
Sincerely,
Andrew Blair
Your analogy likening GAVI’s “dirty dozen” (so to speak) viruses to fear to the most wanted terrorists/Baathists playing cards is a really good one!
Not apropos of this post, but I wish Gaddafi’s Libya had lived to exist in the Covid era. I wonder what kind of resistance they’d have mustered.
